I have been involved in the sport of volleyball for the past 30 years as a player and coach. My career started by playing high school volleyball in Fort Wayne, IN. under legendary coach Arnie Ball. (U.S. Olympic men’s scout and current Men’s V.B. Hall of Fame coach at IPFW).

After 10 years off the court and on my new career path in Michigan I was approached by a friend to start playing in adult leagues. That lasted until my knees decided it was time for me to slow down in my mid to late 30s. During my playing days I also got involved coaching in elementary and Jr. High volleyball. That was more than 25 years ago and I haven’t looked back.

I coached at 4 different high schools in those years with our last school in MI being our most successful.  During my tenure in Michigan our coaching association was very proactive in yearly seminars where they brought in top college coaches to present. This greatly enhanced my knowledge base and what I have to offer to the players each day. Along with high school I also coached a year of college before having to leave that position to make our move to Seattle.

Since we arrived in Washington in 2011 I have stayed active in coaching at Kentwood, Stanwood, and most recently Peninsula H.S. along with a few club VB programs.

I have been in the aviation maintenance field for 32 years. I spent my first 20 years as a Lead Mechanic for a major airline. After 9/11 I changed career paths and became Director of Maintenance for a local airline in Michigan. 7 years ago I accepted a position with Boeing Aircraft Maintenance Training in Tukwila.

I have been blessed to be married to my wife “Michele” for 32 years. We have 4 wonderful children Amanda (28), Zach (27), Allison (25), and Zane (23). And to our amazement ALL have relocated out here to the PNW with us.  My interests include ANYTHING outdoors. Camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, and riding my BMW which all rate as top picks.

Coaching Philosophy
My emphasis has always been directed towards continual education for the players and myself through every match. Disciplined skill execution is paramount to a quality player and my goals are simple. Play harder, faster, and smarter than our competitors. None of this is possible without a true passion for what we do.
