ABOUT DAWN

Dawn is very excited to join her husband Brad in coaching 12’s with the Dakine Ohana!  This will be their 4th year coaching together. Last year in their first year of head coaching they lead their 12’s team to winning the Bronze bracket at PNQ. (The gold and silver winners were in the same pool!) She knows that having fun with the ability to grow and learn is important with any sport. Dawn believes that fueling the love for the game with proper technique and a positive attitude will allow people to play the sport for years to come. Dawn enjoys getting to know the girls’ different personalities and learning styles as well as watching them grow throughout the season.

Dawn started playing volleyball in middle school and played as a freshman in high school. It was hard for her to step away from the court when her love of two sports coincided at the same time. She ran cross country and track and lead her cross country team to their very first sectional title in one of the most difficult conferences in Indiana and on to Regionals for the first time in the history of the school. She also held the school record in the 2 mile for over 15 years. After moving to Seattle 6 years ago she discovered beach volleyball doubles and found her love of the sport never left! A friend/parent 4 years ago encouraged her to coach and it has been a joy in her life ever since then.

You can currently find Dawn playing as much volleyball as possible, even outside in the cooler weather!  She has a B.S. in Exercise Science and currently works as a Team Lead in Corporate Wellness.
