From Beginners to Elites

Our Beach Club is one of the deepest and most respected in the country, routinely winning National Beach competitions in Southern California and providing top level competition in the Pacific Northwest.  DaKine is currently ranked in the top ten Beach Clubs in the country, by the BVCA, the gold standard in juniors beach volleyball competitions. We concentrate on each player, focus on their weaknesses, push their mental toughness, and continue to build their strengths. . Our travel team is made up of some of the best players and most recruited in the entire country!

ELITE BEACH TEAMS

The Dakine Elite Beach volleyball program is one of the finest in the country.  Dakine leads the way in the NW for all other beach clubs to follow.  No other beach club in the NW competes in the same high level competition events as Dakine Warriors.

There will be tryouts to join our beach elite travel teams. Our Elite Team will consist of three levels of squads: Open & two Club teams. Each squad will have an assigned head coach. Our goal is to foster a true team atmosphere to mirror that of the top collegiate programs. These squads will practice together, travel together, compete together and support one another. Team captains will be assigned to learn and develop leadership skills to prepare them for their collegiate beach careers.

We will also have an Elite Futures training group that will train twice a week from December through early June. This squad will be a mix of players balancing indoor volleyball schedules and younger players just starting this journey, with tremendous potential. The tournament schedule for this group will be heavily weighted into the spring; they will participate in BVCA events in Chelan, Spokane and the DaKine hosted event in June.

Elite Warriors will practice three times a week through May and then twice a week once competition season gears up for June through mid-July. The Elite Beach players are committing to train & play from December through mid-July, wrapping up at the BVCA Club Championships; there will not be a spring tryout for summer training. All practices will begin with a dynamic warm up, followed by 45 minutes of ball control and technique training. The following 45 minutes are focused on strategic drills, using game like situations. The remainder of practices will be structured queen of the court scrimmaging, followed by 20 minutes of cardio & strength training. Time will also be dedicated to specific breathing work, yoga & stretching. Practice plans will be customized and developed by each training group’s head coach and the Club Director.

Elite Warriors will participate in monthly travel tournaments on the BVCA Club Challenge Series; the gold standard in junior tournament competition. The BVCA Club Challenges are organized in the same format as the collegiate competitions, preparing DaKine Ohana to transfer seamlessly into top collegiate programs.

DaKine will offer sideline coaching at the AVP America National Championships in July  and the BVCA Club Championships July; both events in Southern California, Hermosa Beach.

REGIONAL BEACH TEAMS

DaKine Beach Volleyball is available to players of all levels and skills.  There are no “cuts” for players who want to play on our regional squad; but rather a seeding day, by age group, will be held to evaluate and assess each players current skill set, to place them in a training group of similar age and skilled athletes. These training groups are open to boys and girls, ages 8-18 years old.

There will be four training groups for the DaKine Beach Regional Warriors: Shaka for beginners, Ohana for intermediate athletes (divided into two groups by age) and Surf for more advanced players. Regional Warriors practicing at DaKine Volleyball Club in University Place, will practice twice a week, December through late-April. Then in late April, we’ll have another seeding day for our summer beach program.

Tournament play is not required for the Winter Beach Season, but highly encouraged. There will be 1-3 tournaments a month available to junior players to participate in, either Queen of the Beach format or doubles tournaments.

Coaching & Philosophy

Many of our coaches have played or still playing professionally on the sand. Dakine beach director Chris Hannemann has been coaching and playing beach volleyball for over 40 years both domestically and internationally. As a player, Chris won numerous international and domestic tours and events over a 15 year period. As a coach, Chris has led DaKine to being one of the most respected beach clubs in the country in only 5 years. He is a leader on a National level, working with multiple organizations as a driver for providing competition and leadership for the beach game. He is a passionate leader and absolutely driven for the success of all of our athletes.
