About DaKine Beach Volleyball Club
DaKine Beach Volleyball Club started out in 2015 as a group of local players who offered beach volleyball camps during the summer to help young players get their feet sandy. In 2016 we took the step of becoming one of the first volleyball clubs dedicated to beach volleyball in the region. We opened up tryouts and decided to have a traveling team. We were hoping for 12 athletes to want to be a part of DaKine. We had 55 athletes in our first year…and we couldn’t bring ourselves to only have a 12 person team. Our desire to help ALL volleyball players who want to learn the beach game was the impetus to offer a Local Training Team option.
In our first season we had tremendous success. Our little team from the Pacific NW finished 11th in the Beach Volleyball Clubs of America National Championships. The ONLY team in the top 11 who were from outside of California or Texas. We are extremely proud of how our girls competed and how they showed what they are made of on the courts. Our best individual finish was a 5th in the U14 division by Maia and Madison Nichols. To have a team finishing so high up the rankings in what is arguably the most competitive division there is was a huge accomplishment for our girls.
When it came to Seaside – the NW’s premiere beach volleyball event we had TWO teams WIN their divisions. The U16 AA Division was won by DaKine Athletes, Hannah Yerex and Kennedy Croft and our U14 A division was won by DaKine Athletes Pearl Moore and Maki Bispham. These finishes were absolutely incredible and we are so proud of the mettle that our athletes showed in these very difficult tournament situations!
