We are thrilled to announce that DaKine Volleyball Club will be fielding 3 girls indoor teams for the upcoming 2016/17 season! Find out more about how we plan to bring our culture of “playing for one another” and how our focus is on developing fully rounded athletes and people. Our goal is not only to provide our DaKine athletes the skills to compete indoor and on the beach but also to help develop skills that will help our players become successful in other endeavors in their lives.
U12 DaKine Warriors will be coached by Genne Baleto. Genne is a UW Husky Volleyball alumni and has extensive experience indoors. Fun Fact – Genne held the UW serving aces record for over 20 years. It was broken by Sonja Tomasevic. We are finalizing our assistant coach and will announce very soon.
U14 DaKine Warriors will be coached by Ariana Hannemann and Tom Amparo. Ariana has extensive indoor experience playing club and college indoor volleyball in Canada and Tom has been coaching indoor in our region for many years.
U15 Division will be coached by Joe Baleto and will be assisted by Annie Phan. Joe is a legendary coach in the Puget Sound Region. He is excited to have the opportunity to coach for his own club! Joe is joined by Annie, who has experience as a coach with Mercer Island Volleyball Club.

“An awesome opportunity for Seattle’s juniors to learn the beach game from two of it’s greatest. Chris Hanneman and Joe Baleto are true ambassadors that bring decades of know how and winning ways to DaKine. Highly recommended whether you are just getting started in the sand or looking to take your game to the next level!”
Evan Silberstein, University of Hawaii Sandbows - Assistant Coach
“My daughters have been involved in the beach training at Dakine Beach Volleyball Club and have benefited greatly as a result. Dakine teaches fundamentals and strategies that enhance your playing experience regardless of whether your focus is indoor or outdoor.”
“I love sand sessions because they force me to work harder for every play as well as being a part of every play. Transitioning from running in the sand to indoors, the sessions help me become quicker and cover more area. This helps my defense immensely. When I transition back to indoors the game becomes slower due to my ability to read the play better. I can read the defense easier while hitting, and have built up a variety of shots.”
Jennica McPherson, Junior at Western Washington University
“I always loved training with Joe. He was a great motivator for me and pushed me to get a little bit better each time I stepped on the court. He taught me a lot about the sand game; coming from indoor volleyball I needed to change my game to adapt to the sand. He was patient with my questions but still critiqued my skills so I could improve at a faster rate. He has a lot of experience and really understands what his players need while still creating a great environment to play volleyball.”
Jenna Orlandini, Defensive Specialist / Libero - Vannes Volleyball Club (Vannes, France) & University of Washington Huskies (2009-2013)
“I’ve been coached by Joe Baleto since I was 11 years old. He is an extremely personal and experienced coach. I always look forward to training with him. He is a great motivator and pushes me, but at the same time I always have fun. Joe has mentored me and helped me achieve my goal of playing sand and indoor volleyball at the University of Washington (class of 2016). I highly recommend his clinics, whether you are a beginner, or a player who wants to improve their skills.”
Shayne McPherson, University of Washington, Class of 2016
“The sessions were very helpful to me because Coach Joe gave focused instruction on my form, my communication with my partner, my ability to read other players as plays unfolded, and making smarter decisions. Every session was both fun and intense! My partner and I saw considerable improvement in our performance and success at tournaments as we learned new facets of the outdoor game. Not only did I see changes in my beach game, but the training helped me to succeed during my indoor season!”
Angelou Dunton, 2014 Metro Mountain MVP for Holy Names High School
“Our daughter, Riley, participated in Coach Baleto’s beach volleyball sessions throughout her high school years. Not only did she have fun with the beach volleyball season, but the training she got with Coach Baleto was invaluable to her in her indoor season, high school and club! Riley is at college now, recruited by Willamette University, and we credit the skills and conditioning she received from Coach Baleto as a key component to her now enjoying the scholar/athlete experience in college. Thank you Coach Baleto!”
Shannon & Roxanne Fawcett, Parents of Riley Fawcett
“I think that these sand sessions have helped me in numerous ways. When going to play indoor in the fall after the summer season, my endurance and physical strength is always at its best. After trying to run through the sand for months, running on an indoor court is easy. Skill wise, these sand sessions have made me better and more consistent. Having one on one coaching has greatly improved my game because there is much more direct and specific coaching rather than trying to learn in a large group. In all, every summer that I have worked with Joe at the summer camps I have improved vastly on my sand and indoor play.”
“I started playing sand volleyball when I was 10 years old. I would pepper with my Dad, Joe, for hours. I started playing in beach tournaments a few years later. By starting beach volleyball at such a young age, when I finally transitioned to indoor it made it so much easier! Beach training with my dad helped me become quicker and stronger, but mainly it has helped my overall knowledge of the game.
The past 7 years of Dakine beach clinics has helped me achieve my goal of playing volleyball in college, in both sand and indoors. The experience of working out with other top volleyball athletes at these clinics has prepared me to compete at a very high level. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the coaching and support my dad has given me!”
Eastyn Baleto, Freshman Indoor and Sand Volleyball Player at University of New Mexico
“You touch every other ball and, if you screw up, you only have one more person to back you up. You cant go hide in the corner.”
Kerry Walsh comparing beach volleyball to indoor volleyball
“I’ve worked too hard and too long to let anything stand in the way of my goals. I will not let my teammates down and I will not let myself down.”
“There are only two options regarding commitment; you’re either in or you’re out. There’s no such thing as life in-between.”
